How is it that Tom Blues sits on the Urban County Council for district #2 but does not have a clue or a care about what happens in his own district? How can you sit on the council and not know a $23 million dollar building has been made into a $42 million dollar building. How do you allow a building like this be moved and back up to a neighborhood? How is it you sit on the council and don’t know that it has happened? An even better question is how do you sit on the THE PLANNING COMMITTEE and don’t know this is happening? Maybe you were spending to much time worrying about how to best help illegal aliens instead of looking out for the best interests of your district.
Tom were you taking a nap? Maybe you can blame this on someone else like you did the failure of the downtown master plan at a cost of $500,000 to tax payers. Another question Tom, how is it you are on the planning committee but didn’t realize $500,000 of tax payer money was being wasted on a plan that was in your own words “A failure” That is how I would rate your two years on the council. A failure.
I have one last question for Tom Blues and the rest of the council. where are we getting the extra 20 million to pay for this? More bonds? How are we going to pay for this when according to Dr. Stevens we don’t have enough money to keep the trees alive downtown but we are going to be able to pay an additional 20 million for a building we don’t need?
Excluding these bonds we are issuing OVER $500,000,000 IN BONDS THIS YEAR! That’s right 500 MILLION in bonds! Hopefully they are not off on the amount they need by 90% like they are this project. Just for the record the interest on that is over 3.5 million a year. Also for the record $290 million for the sewer, $70 million to fund police and fire pensions, $135 million for eastern state $6 million for the theater, and there is still more but that is 501 million there. There is no way this reckless spending cannot force the council to raise your property and payroll taxes.
